Want to save money on your fuel bills?

White Rose Energy, a partnership between Leeds City Council and Robin Hood Energy, has a new ‘Summer Holiday’ tariff available for a limited period, ending 30 August 2018. The company is a not for profit energy supplier, launched in 2016, that has been designed to put customers in Yorkshire first.

Leeds Clean Air Zone consultation ends 12 August

Leeds City Council is looking for people living, working and commuting in Leeds and the wider region to have their say on its latest proposals to reduce air pollution and protect the health of people in the city. The consultation questionnaire gives people an opportunity to shape the final Clean Air Zone proposals which will be presented to the government later this year. Deadline for responses is 12 August 2018

Volunteers wanted for Leeds tree survey

Volunteers are needed for a large scale survey of trees across the Middleton and Belle Isle regions Leeds being conducted over the summer. 

The i-Tree Leeds project is exploring the value of trees in Leeds and the information collected will be used to support the preservation and creation of green space and woodland across the city.

No previous experience is needed and volunteers will receive training.

Call for Leeds businesses to join exciting new recycling initiative

A new creative campaign that will tackle recycling on the go is calling on businesses and organisations in Leeds city centre to sign up.

Starting in September 2018, 'Leeds By Example' will bring together a ground breaking coalition of local and national organisations to improve recycling of food and drink packaging currently disposed of ‘on the go’. The campaign is being launched by environmental charity Hubbub  in conjunction with Leeds City Council.

Go green for Clean Air Day

With Clean Air Day 2018 coming up on 21 June, people in Leeds are being urged to take up a "Go Green" challenge by wearing green and getting around the city by bus, train, bike or by walking to show their support to reduce pollution in Leeds. Go Green stations will be showing up at Merrion House, Civic Hall, St Georges House, Enterprise House and TechNorth where you can pledge your support, take a photo with your pledge and help spread the word on social media.

Leeds could lead the North on green finance, say experts

Leeds could be the green finance centre of the North - but it needs to think big, capitalise on expertise and have an integrated approach to low carbon projects.

That was the message from a networking event to kick start low carbon projects in Leeds, which heard inspirational stories from trailblazing businesses and positive news about Leeds already being a "hotspot" for ethical investment. 

Initiative to boost green economy proves popular with investors

An event to get green projects off the ground in Leeds is attracting significant interest from investors and financial services. More than 100 people from Leeds businesses, services and organisations are expected at the launch of the Project Development and Finance networking event on 1 May, which aims to help realise energy saving projects and stimulate a thriving low carbon economy.

"Recycled heat" project to heat 2000 homes

Leeds Pipes, a new district heating network that will use the waste heat generated from the Cross Green incinerator (the RERF), will bring to one of the most deprived areas of Leeds, with 31 tower blocks benefitting  from cheaper fuel bills, reducing the city's emissions by 22,000 tonnes of CO2.
